About the safety of participants
Gouffre Berger has the reputation of being "the easiest -1000". True, but it's still a -1000! And it's not to be taken lightly. Such an exploration requires technical skill, endurance and... humility. There is no shame, and never will be, in turning back! Be perfectly prepared, both technically and physically. And in all circumstances, never let anyone move through the cave alone.
About the concept of gathering
The Berger 2024 international camp should not be seen as a one-shot weekend. It is first a place to meet and exchange. The base camp has been set up for this purpose. Other caves are rigged for several days of activity. Festivities such as "Petzl day", or meeting the old-timers, or group barbecue evenings will be organised for you. So this year, the registration fee includes two nights at the camp (10 euros), to encourage you to stay there. If you really do decide to stay elsewhere, this sum will be considered as your "generous and voluntary contribution" to the management of the camp! Finally, it should be made clear that any cancellation on your part will not give rise to any refund. There's no need to ask... thank you!
